April 5, 1946 – July 14, 2020
Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, Richard Thomas Berney passed away at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Anne Thomas for 32 years. Loving father of Melissa (Shawn), Alexandra and Hannah. Devoted grandfather to Eden. Dear brother of Jane. Special brother-in-law to Chris Kirschner. Richard will be fondly remembered by several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends throughout Canada and the United States.
Richard was born in New York City and attended the University of Western Ontario Medical School, graduating in 1975. He was a caring and skilled family doctor practicing in Forest, Ontario for more than 40 years. He will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at Woodland Cemetery. A celebration of Richard’s life will be planned for a future date when circumstances allow. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Richard are asked to consider the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
