Obituary of Edward Walter Burke

BURKE, Edward Walter (Ted) - Of London, Ont., born in Sarnia, Ont. January 14, 1928. Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday May 17, 2016. Beloved husband of Dorothy Ellen Burke (Schell) and loving father of Michael Burke (Darlene), Bob Burke (Lorraine), and Janice Sutherland (Daryl). Grandpa of Jeremy, Tawny (Craig), Shauna, Robyn (Mike), Derek (Heini), Danny (Andra), Trevor (Anna), and Robert (Melanie). Great-Grandpa of Robert, Alexandra, Abigail, Sarah, Ryan, Ava, Lily, Benjamin, Lillian, and Noah. Survived by his siblings Alice, Bill, and Dorothy. Predeceased by his mother and father, Muriel and James, daughter Lori, and siblings Jim, George, Allen, and Margaret Rose. Ted's unconditional love for his family, as well as his sharp mind, strength, and gratitude, remained through his last breaths. All who knew him were blessed to be around a man of great dignity and dedication. His stories, wit, humour, and passion for knowledge and history were admired and deeply cherished. Special thanks to the health professionals in the Cardiac Unit at University Hospital who provided compassionate and supportive care to the very end; Doctors Varinder Randhawa, Kumar Sridhar, Steve Russell, and Marcus Van Aarsen, and nurses Glenn, Becky, Allan, Monika, and Heather. An open house celebration of life will be held on Sunday May 22 from 1pm - 5pm at 2648 Woodhull Road, London, Ont. If desired, donations may be made to the London Humane Society (londonhumanesociety.ca). Cremation arrangements entrusted to Woodland Cemetery.
