Barb and all your family ,
Liz and I are very sorry to read of Murray's passing . Please accept our condolences . I first met Murray in the mid 70s at the depot and was immediately impressed by his work ethic , humour and razor sharp wit .
When I found out he was from New Brunswick I shared with him that my parents were both born there but I was born in Ontario . He said " If your parents were born in New Brunswick then you are a New Brunswicker ,welcome to the club " . Working with him on and off for well over 20 years was never work , more like an adventure . After he retired we would on occasion cross paths and he was genuinely pleased to stop and talk and ask if we were OK . An honour to have known Murray Thompson .
Liz and Bryan Ross .

Jackie Montague (Wyse) We met Murray when he was working at the Beer Store with my Dad (Ken Wyse). My Dad was a stern man but had a special place in his heart for Murray. He said many many times that Murray was a great guy to work with. Besides having a great sense of humour he was a hard worker, when Murray was with you he was committed, honest, reliable and could do the work of ten guys. Murray truly cared about people. He visited my Dad many times during the time he lived at Parkwood even though he was experiencing his own health issues. You could tell when Murray had been in for a visit as Dad was always in an upbeat mood having been updated on the guys and reminicing the good times when they were working together. Murray and Dad shared a mutual respect for each other. To my surprise even though enduring his own battle with illness, Murray took the time to come to my Dad's visitation when he passed. To Murray I would say on this chapter of your next journey keep an eye out for Dad and make sure you say hi. To the family be proud of your Dad and Grandpa he was a great guy , may your memories bring you joy. Barb may you find comfort in your family until you and Murray are together again. XO Regards. Jackie

One of my first memories of my "Big Brother Murray" takes me back to a farm in Maugerville.
Me, I was toddling along behind my brother. Murray, he was running to the gate in the fence around the barn. As I navigate through the thick mud, he reached the fence, then turned around and held out his hand for me to catch. Being too small to get up on the rail, he took my hand and pulled me up. In the idyllic sunshine we swung back and forth for what seemed like forever.
I remember...he turned to me and said, "don't worry, I've always gotcha"....
He kept that promise his whole life.
Murray, your courage over the last years is an inspiration to us all.
You have earned your rest.

Just wanted to share a fun memory of my darling Uncle Murray! He and I shared a love of two things in life - Baseball and Ham. We'd wax poetic about both on many occasions. We could agree on what constituted the perfect ham; there was only one problem. I was a lifelong Blue Jays fan and he was a lifelong Tigers fan. Oh no! What to do? Then, the solution came to us - BET on it! And the loser had to buy the winner a big ass ham. There was only one problem for Uncle Murray. He made me that bet in the spring of 2015 and every baseball fan knows what happened that year! The Tigers finished up with an under 500 record and the Jays went to the ALCS. Sorry Unc! The ham was delicious. I'll never watch baseball or eat a ham without thinking of you. You are loved and will be missed.
