I have just learned of Gerry's death. I want to send our condolences. I remember his hearty laugh and how much he enjoyed people. He could talk to strangers and make them feel like lifelong friends .I remember his unexpected visits when the only warning you had was a call from the driveway followed by an immediate knock on the door. While I was thinking how much tidying up I could get done before his arrival, he would appear in the kitchen! I remember many cups of tea and scrabble games with Pat---even during a tornado. And I remember how much Gerry loved his wife and kids. He was very proud of all of you. We lost touch before the grandparent years, but I have no doubt he was a devoted and proud grandpa. I was so sad to learn about Gerrit’s passing but I have great comfort knowing he’s finally at peace and without pain. While I didn’t know him for long I am grateful for time we did spend together - our coffee chats, our tablet lessons, spending time outdoors and most of all his sense of humour. He loved music and attention even though he didn’t want to admit it at times but I know he did appreciate being entertained and cared for. He cherished his family and friends and loved talking about them. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest my friend, you’re already missed.
