Bradley (Brad) Johnson

Obituary of Bradley (Brad) Lloyd Johnson

It is with great sadness that the Johnson family announces the passing of Bradley Lloyd Johnson on August 8, 2019 in London, Ontario. Brad was born on January 18, 1954 to deceased parents Laverne and Doris Johnson of Mount Elgin. Brad lived his 65 years to the fullest. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a heavy machine operator working across Canada and later became an incredibly skilled carpenter. His most important accomplishment, however, was being the proud and loving father of sons Bradley Shawn Johnson and Kyle Richard Johnson, both born in Drumheller, Alberta to mother Ruth DeFoor. Brad was the adoring grandfather of son Bradley’s and daughter-in-law Kelsie’s children, Bradley and Quin, ages 10 and 8. He was also the devoted Grandpa of Kyle’s children, Maya and Archer, ages 8 and 2.  Brad’s children and grandchildren will forever carry Brad’s love for them in their hearts.

In addition, Brad was a dedicated and loyal brother to his five siblings and their spouses. He will be missed dearly by Cliff and Bonnie Johnson of London, Monica and Paul Seys of Beachville, Rhonda Overholt and Bob Minogue of Centreville, Yvonne and Sam Coulombe of Monetville and Mark Johnson and Laurie Smythe of London.

Referred to by his sons as the “Ironman” due to his ability to persevere through life’s many difficult challenges, including open heart surgery, colon cancer, liver cancer, COPD and having his heart restarted 19 times, Brad was sadly unable to conquer stomach cancer. On December 3, 2018 he told his sons that he was stopping chemotherapy but was not stopping living! Brad’s family would like to thank all of the medical staff at University Hospital, Victoria Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital who have helped and cared for him over the years.

Brad was a brave, compassionate, accomplished, optimistic person. He had the kindest soul as will attest all those that have had the privilege to cross his path along the way. Please join Brad’s family in celebrating his beautiful life on Wednesday, August 14 at 490 Piccadilly Street, London from 4 to 7.

The cremation has taken place and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Brad's memory.
