On Christmas Day I celebrated with my friends and family over for Christmas dinner. But, it wasn’t the same you see because I was missing one man very dear to my heart. My good friend and neighbour trucker Bob. He was my neighbour for 35 years and I also considered him a part of my family.
I never let that gruff crankshaft personality of his fool me. He was always kind and caring to me and was always there to lend me a hand whenever I needed it. Always there to let my cats in and out, feed them and let my dog Monty outside if I was away for an afternoon. We always joked about whose dog Monty was because he was always over hanging out with Bob on his deck in the summertime or inside house getting his biscuits! Monty always knew when Bob came or went by the sound of his truck. As soon as Bob pulled into his driveway Monty had to be let out to go over and see Bob.
Shortly before his passing we were able to reminisce and share some fond memories.
I remember when he retired and said he was going to drive a school bus. LOL! I thought another crankshaft bus driver and chuckled to myself. But he loved it! He loved driving school bus. He would come home at end of day and share his stories of the daily adventures and funny things the kids would do or say. He loved that job! It gave him purpose everyday. But all too soon his life was sucked from him. I will remember him always.
Bob you are now on the Highway in Heaven and will be forever missed by me and your dog Monty.
Rest In Peace, Love Cathy
