Obituary of Peter Okkerse
Peacefully at home surrounded by family, Peter Frank Okkerse passed away on January 11, 2025. We take solace in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Lyn (May 2023).
Born in 1941 in The Hague, Holland and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. He grew up in Quebec and Ontario until joining the Queens Own Rifles in 1958. Upon his return, he married and worked the mines in Sudbury before settling in London.
Over the years, Peter had many occupations becoming quite the entrepreneur; Clearwater Pool Service, Silver Ball Arcade and The Second City London with Lyn. After living in the U.S. for a while he returned to Canada and worked as a trucker until he retired in 2017. With his knowledge he was always willing to assist fixing anything.
He was not a big talker but spent time sharing stories with his family. He loved recalling his favourite holidays especially Aruba with Mum.
Peter leaves behind sisters Geri Lynch (Jim), Mary Lemon (Dave) and Joanne Yeo (Gord). Predeceased by brother Frank Okkerse (Dolores). Fondly remembered by his children Michele Gale (Shane), Tim Okkerse (Josie), Melissa Voth (Doug) from previous marriage to Yvonne. David Rider(Sue), Tracy Malnati (Alessandro), Ian Rider (Linda), Grandchildren (15), Great grandchildren (7). Also, he leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place with interment and celebration of life to follow in the Spring.
