Obituary of Gail Elizabeth May Jongkind
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gail E. Jongkind announces her peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in her 84th year.
Beloved by her husband, hero, and friend, Dirk A. Jongkind; wonderful mother to Meagan Caters (Garth) and Chris Jongkind (Ramona); cherished grandmother to Lauren, Eirin, and Henrik. Daughter to A. Donald S. Murison and Joan A. Lee (Murison, Stevenson). She leaves behind many special friends and family (they know who they are). Also survived by her sister Pam Murison (niece/nephew Amie/Aaron Ditchfield).
Gail was a Londoner for most of her life, as a teacher and librarian with schools throughout London. In retirement she threw herself into art through local art clubs, making wonderful friends in all. Also an avid reader (the LPL will notice a decrease in ‘holds’), traveller (sometimes for art, often for family in Bermuda, and annually to the Bruce Peninsula), with her oldest favourite memory being Grandpa's cottage on Lake Huron.
Gail will rest with her parents at Woodland Cemetery – a short distance from both her first and last homes. Thanks to the staff at St. Joe’s Hospice for comforting her in her last few days.
Private family service. Cremation and interment at Woodland Cemetery (London, Ontario). Online condolences may be made at woodlandcemetery.ca.
