Obituary of Alfred Sydney Crafts

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Syd Crafts, age 70, on September 30th, 2024, following a short but courageous battle with cancer. Syd passed away at London’s Victoria Hospital.

Born on July 27th, 1954, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Syd and family later settled in London, Ontario, Syd specifically in the neighbourhood of Byron. In his final years, he enjoyed life by the water and surrounded by his friends in beautiful Mitchell’s Bay, Ontario.

Syd was an avid fisherman, happiest with a boat in the water and a fishing pole in hand. Beloved by many friends and family, he was always up for an adventure and embraced life with fun-loving sociable spirit.

Syd is survived by his daughter, Alyson Copeland (Benjamin), and his three grandchildren, Addington, Autumn and Malcolm. He is also beloved by his siblings, Nelson Crafts, Nancy Knockwood and Edward Crafts. Syd was predeceased by his brother Johnny Crafts. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life to honor Syd will be held at a later spring date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 533 Byron - Springbank via email money transfer to rclbr533payments@gmail.com and kindly make a note: In memory of Syd Crafts

Though Syd may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will live on in the laughter, stories, and memories we’ll all share for years to come.
