Obituary of Miroslawa Lutowicz

Mirosława (Mira) utowicz (née Serafin) March 23, 1928 – August 7, 2024

Mira ᴌutowicz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Poplar Hill on August 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old.

Mira was born on March 23, 1928, in the village of Wysokie in Eastern Poland (present day Davyd-Haradok Belarus), to Stefan Serafin and Gabryela Barancewicz. She had two brothers, Jurek (2 years older), Sławek (1 year younger) and is survived by sister Krysia (8 years younger).

Mira dedicated her life to her family and her faith. Her beloved husband Zbigniew ᴌutowicz passed away in 1995 in his 72nd year and her grandson Michael Milan ᴌutowicz passed away in 2009 in his 21st year.

 

When she became a grandmother Mira became fondly called Baba by family and friends. Baba is survived by her three children, Andrew (Betty), Irene (Jim) and Paul (Lisa) as well as her grandchildren Nicholas, David (Christine), Lauren (Dominic), Annette (Johnny), Kevin (Jocelyn), Gregory (Melissa), Ian (Jill) and Daniel (Ashley). And her three great grandchildren Sofia, Albert and Logan Marie.

 

Baba had a passion for singing, gardening and her Catholic faith. She was an excellent story-teller and had a marvelous sense of humour. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and community.

 

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Czestochowa church (419 Hill Street, London, Ontario) on Friday August 16, 2024 at 10AM. Praying the Rosary before Mass at 9:30AM.

 

The family will hold visitations and celebration of life for Baba at her cabin in Poplar Hill some time in the Fall. Dates and times to be announced at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Victoria Order of Nurses https://von.ca/en/donate-von The VON were dedicated to helping family care for Mira in her last months and made it possible for us to fulfill Baba’s wish to remain in her home.
