Obituary of Bill Caldwell
Grumpsy – as he was lovingly known by his five grandchildren – passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 13th, surrounded by his wife of 60 years, Jacquie, his son, Jason (wife Denise, children Hannah and Brogan), his daughter, Shantal (husband Jeff, children Hunter, Harrison, and Berkley). He is survived by his brother-in-law Howard (Liz) and predeceased by his parents Pearl and Bill Caldwell.
Born and raised in London, Ontario, Bill (aka Billy Caldwell) was a Tool and Die Maker for Northern Telecom, where he forged friendships that lasted a lifetime. Bill and Jacquie travelled the world together and in later years enjoyed the companionship of good friends Connie and Al, Bev and Bill, and Vina and Jim. Bill was a longtime member of the Highland Country Club and was hoping to get at least one more round of golf in this year. Bill was a husband, a dad, a grandfather, and a friend. He always had a smile and a laugh and a nice scratch behind the ear for any puppy. He was a prankster and did a wonderful job of passing those genes along to his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when the weather is nicer, and travel is easier. We hope you’ll bring great stories and memories to share with us because you know Bill will expect smiles, laughter, and great storytelling as we send him on his next journey.
