KALMAN, Magdolna (Maggie) 

February 11, 1939 - September 18, 2023 

ANGELS DON'T COME MORE BEAUTIFUL AND KIND

Our Maggie passed away on September 18, 2023 with eager anticipation of forever peace and freedom from suffering.

She is loved beyond measure and immensely missed by so many - her adoring daughter Maggie, her sisters Ircsi and Muci, her brother Endre, her nieces and nephews and their families, her step-grandchildren Celeste, Tanya and Zara and their families and a whole collection of "adopted" children and family. She was predeceased by her parents Zsuzsa and Lajos, her oldest brother Louis, her son in law Michael, many close friends and the love of her life Pista

Maggie had the biggest, purest heart and loved the whole wide world and everyone in it unconditionally. Her intellect, talents, acts of kindness, generosity and humour are too numerous to list. She was truly beautiful inside and out which reflected in her stunning, genuine smile. She had unparalleled strength of character and she faced life's challenges with courage, dignity, grace, resilience and humour. This helped her to move to Canada from Hungary in 1975 and build a new life for herself and her 13-year- old daughter - but part of her heart always remained in Hungary.

Beyond her very rewarding career as a nurse, she was famous for her professional baking skills, poetry, crochet creations and clowning.

She enriched so many lives with her unwavering love, warmth, empathy, caring and support. She was a friend you could always count on and in turn she was blessed with the same.

Maggie's suffering in recent times was difficult to watch and broke her loved one's hearts. With her physical symptoms and constant pain she could not live the active, fulfilling life that she desired and those of us closest to her had been repeatedly assured that she was ready to go with no regrets and complete peace in her soul. She was never afraid of dying but, with her pride, never wanted to face the indignities of living such as being helpless, a burden or loosing control. Her life ended as she lived it - with dignity and purpose as she never gave up control of her destiny. Knowing that she is where she wants to be, that she is at peace and not suffering anymore, and that there are so many special souls rejoicing at her arrival in the next realm is a great source of comfort in this heartbreaking time.

Maggie was a dedicated and passionate supporter of all things Hungarian. If you would like to commemorate her, a donation to the London & District Hungarian Canadian Club would be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place. Please join us in celebrating her amazing life in her beautiful home at  695 Proudfoot Lane on October 28, 2023 between 2 and 6 pm.

No flowers or gifts please, just expression of your sincere love, respect and fond memories of Maggie.
