My respects to the Adlington family for the loss of a fine man. Mere words can never express the admiration and respect I had for Al when I worked at Western University. His leadership was legend within the university and his kindness to others was without equal. I had many opportunities to interact with Al in my role as Assistant Director of Personnel. He always treated me, a lower level manager, as an equal and took the time to hear what I had to suggest when personnel difficulties arose among the staff from time to time. His advice to me was much appreciated and always fair and balanced when it came to handling difficult cases. Al's way of doing things and his treatment of others acted as pattern for me in my later career years. Little did he know that he would have such a lasting impression on me. Dear Mary and Family: I was deeply saddened when I read, today, of Al's death. I am so sorry. I had the very great privilege of being a colleague at Western, and a fellow member of the Williams' Group, a retired group of senior administrators and professors, which met monthly for lunch during the academic year.
