Obituary of Albert Peter Groot-McLaren

1964 – 2022

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Albert Peter Groot-McLaren on November 15, 2022 at the age of 58.  Beloved husband and best friend of Barbara(Collyer) and loved father of Olivia(Brock) and Chloe.

Dear Opa of Aiden, Morgaine and Lucas.  Loved son of Margaret(Moote) and brother of John(Michelle), Roy(Lorraine) and Joe(Jenny).  Predeceased by his father John and brother Brian.  Albert is survived by his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  A special thank you to Albert’s care team at University Hospital.  Albert was a very brave man, a true hero.  He fought his health issues with true grit.  He was a warrior, a loyal friend and a respected colleague to many throughout Ontario.  He was a defender of his family, the skilled trades and the hockey net.  As his name is shouted out by the crowd in the arena “Albert, Albert, Albert” a coach says “I sure wish we had a guy like Albert”.  And you know, we did.  We all had that guy Albert. An amazing man who will be missed by all who knew him.  Cremation has taken place.  Albert’s Celebration of Life will take place in the new year.  Notification of the Celebration of Life date will be posted on facebook and the London Free Press.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Albert are asked to consider the Multi Organ Transplant Program at University Hospital, London Ontario.
