Obituary of Ronald Gonyou
Ronald Gordon Gonyou, passed away in his 75th year, after a long battle with cancer, with
family by his side, at Parkwood Hospital on October 19th, 2022.
Ron is heartbreakingly missed by his beloved wife, Judy Gonyou, and his children Aaron and
Rachel Gonyou, Ryan and Stephanie Gonyou, Lynette and Jay Desjardine, and his fifteen
grandchildren Mackenna, Kayla, Josiah, Brynn, Luke, Matthew, Callaghan, Jack, Sienna, Levi,
Emmersen, Michael, Ethan, Kolton, and Maggie. Born to Gordon and Catherine Gonyou,
youngest brother to Keith and Lois Gonyou, and Joan and Al Hutchinson, brother-in-law to Rick
Hewitt, and Bill and Seanna Hewitt, along with many nieces and nephews.
Over the years he was admired as a protector and provider, for always being there when
you needed him, for his fierce love for his family, for his genuine and hardworking nature, for
his ability to make the people around him feel special, for loving to laugh, and for always
having a twinkle in his eye that seemed like it was just for you.
He enjoyed creating his own path in life by running R&G Siding Ltd, which he started with
his dad. He also enjoyed trips to Florida, day trips, watching his grandkids play sports,
watching the Leafs, long conversations with loved ones, and he loved singing and listening
to old hymns. Most importantly, he loved Jesus, his Saviour, deeply—a spiritual heritage his
family is grateful for.
Ron said to one of his kids, “Family NEVER gives up on each other. Members of this family
always have a seat at the table and there’s nothing you could ever do that would make me
stop loving you.” That quote sums him up pretty well.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 29th @ 11:00 AM at Forest City
Community Church, 3725 Bostwick Rd, London, ON. Refreshments and visitation will follow
from 12:00-3:00 PM at the church.
Charitable donations would be appreciated to the Salvation Army in memory of Ron. He
would often work the kettles at Christmas.
