I am sorry for your loss. I shared a part of a house with Gord for about 6 months in second or third year. I remember Gord reading from his dad's notes in entomology just a few words ahead of Willy Judd"s lecture. The words had not changed in the 20 years! Gord was a great guya

Louise, Emily, and Annie,
I wanted to offer my condolences on the passing of Gord. I did not know him well, but he was very kind to allow me access to some animal samples during my post-doc work with Jim Staples. I am thinking of you during this difficult time.

Having walked a similar path myself - I sympathize with your loss.

Louise, Emily & Annie,
We are so sorry to hear of Gord's passing, and we're all thinking of you in this difficult time. Gord will always be fondly remembered. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about fish biology, and always likely to chat about fish - even at social events! This made him really comfortable to be around. I (Yolanda) saw him in action at GLFC meetings too, and was impressed by the way he connected with colleagues and students. I (Chris) have great memories from the semester we co-taught a course. I really didn't know Gord too well before hand, but we had a blast together and I learned a lot from him not only about Physiology, but how to be a good teacher and take things in stride. He was always laughing and joking around, and he had the greatest jolly laugh.
We know the last few years have been extremely difficult and Annie and Emily have had to grow up probably much faster than they wanted to or, in a perfect world, should have. But you both have been a tremendous comfort to your mom who loves you so much. The depth of Gord's love for all of you was obvious to us right from the start. We could see what a loving and attentive husband and dad he was. We only had a few short years to get to know him before his illness, and it has been heartbreaking. We know that the last few difficult years have bonded the three of you so strongly and we know that Gord would be happy for that. We will miss him greatly and we are here for absolutely anything you need.
Love Chris, Yolanda, Linus and Nora
