Obituary of Michael Francis Thomas Howarth

With his family by his side Michael Francis Thomas Howarth, passed away at the age of 73 on July 9th, 2019 at Westmount Gardens Nursing Home after long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. He was born on March 7, 1946 in London, Ont..

Mike was a devoted, loving husband and friend of 50 years to his wife Carol (Francis) and is survived by his children, Sue (Rick) Meyer and grandsons Shawn and Sam of London and son Jim and partner Ardith Tucker and grandson Jackson of St. Thomas.   

Survived by his brother Dave (Helen) Howarth of Richmond, B.C. and sister Jane Howarth of Strathroy.  Brother and Sister-in–law Gary and Lynne Sims and their daughters Jennifer and Jaclyn and families.  Brother and Sister-in-law Gary and Iona Francis all of London.   He also leaves behind many family members from the Howarth, Edmondson, Northey and Smith’s.

Predeceased by his parents Walter and Mabel Howarth of London and brothers and sisters-in-laws Ron (Debra) Howarth and Leslie (Eleanor) Howarth. 

A former employee of Ford Talbotville for almost 40 years he enjoyed his many years there sharing lots of laughter, card games and ticket selling with his co-workers.  Sometimes he even worked.

Carol and family would like to thank Gary and Lynne for their steadfast support during these last difficult months and weeks with Mike.  Gary was always able to get Mike laughing even on his worst days.  We would also like to thank the Westmount Gardens Nursing Home – Yellow Rose for their excellent care and respect shown to Mike.  A special thank you to the Nurses and Doctors at University Hospital-4th Floor for their steadfast fight to help Mike.  We may have lost the battle but our family knows you did everything possible to help him.

As per Mike’s wishes there will be no funeral.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
