Obituary of Gene Baillargeon

With great sadness, the family of Gene Baillargeon of London, Ontario announce his passing while surrounded by family on May 24th, 2019 at the age of 82. He leaves behind his life partner and wife of 61 years Marlene Baillargeon.

Gene was the last surviving member of twelve siblings.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children Robert (Monica), Brian (Peter), Edward (Deborah) and Catherine (Don) to join his son John-Paul, who passed away in 2006. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Carla, Tyler, Danielle, Angela and Robert and 2 great grandchildren: Theodore and Ellouise.  Gene spent many years in the Real Estate industry retiring as a Vice President with Canada Trust; then becoming an integral part of his son JP's catering company as the go-to “runner”.  He also started his own consulting business providing relocation services to Air Canada Jazz until April of 2019. 

Gene never sat still always looking for his next challenge.  He loved to help all people, and was passionate about helping those less fortunate.  He was very fond of the people of Cuba, traveling there frequently after spending months collecting donations of clothing, medical supplies and everyday necessities.   Dad was also a 30-year golf member at Highland Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds with his friends.  Dad loved all animals, especially dogs, with Rosseau and Beau always by his side making friends wherever they went.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the London Regional Cancer Centre, LHSC Victoria Hospital and the entire team at St. Joseph's Hospice for the care, kindness, and compassion provided to Gene and his family.  He will be dearly missed by family, his close neighbours, and many many friends.

Cremation has already taken place. No funeral service will be conducted. A celebration of Gene's Life will be held on Friday, June 14th at the Highland Country Club (1922 Highland Heights, London, ON) from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  On-line condolences can be made at www.woodlandcemetery.com
